The Next Three Days

Michael the Moviegoer – @@@@

Has Paul Haggis been taking steroids? This looks like a Tony Scott film! But with Haggis involved, I’m expecting a smart, intelligent thriller with top-notch performances from this great cast. Nice to see Crowe keeping with urban crime thrillers since he was so good recently in the underrated “State Of Play.” Seeing Liam Neeson as a bad guy is also very interesting. It seems to explore similar territory as the upcoming Hilary Swank legal thriller “Conviction,” but I can’t wait to see this one. Bring it on!

Between Swank trying to get her brother out of prison by becoming a lawyer and Crowe trying to get his wife out through a daring escape, “The Next Three Days” looks like it’s going to be the clear winner. For escapist entertainment, which is surprising coming from Haggis, it does look thrilling. I love the way the story unfolds in unexpected directions in the trailer. I think we’re going to be in for a wild ride with this one.

Michael’s Rebuttal:

Yes, Terry, just like he did so well with the interwoven stories in “Crash.” This movie feels like it’s going to have some real depth to it. I’m expecting a richly rewarding experience.

Starts November 19, 2010, and continues for at least the next three days.

Up next, the trailer for the film based on the acclaimed play “For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow Is Enuf.”

Yeah, I liked it, too. A lot of implausibilities, but still a fun ride. I give it *** out of 4. – Terry.
