Lottery Ticket

Terrance the Trailer Trasher – @

This is just insultingly unfunny. The story is contrived and unrealistic. The actors are all acting like idiots. It’s pretty clear the movie just expects to hook us in with the wish fulfillment premise of winning the lottery, be silly for an hour in ways stupid people are programmed to automatically laugh at, then “teach” us that friendship is more important than money. I’m going to be your friend and urge you not to waste your money on this crap.

Michael the Moviegoer – @

This just looks dumber than dumb. Not a single one of the micro-second clips in this trailer makes me think this is going to be a funny movie. But if we want trailers to be truthful, at least you know what kind of movie you’ll be getting here. Stunningly awful! My favorite part of the trailer is when the narrator says Bow Wow as he begins naming the cast. That was hilarious!

Goes for the jackpot on August 20, 2010.

Come back tomorrow when we review the trailer for a romantic comedy about long distance relationships.

Lottery Ticket actually ended up being a lot better than I had anticipated. While it does run a little long, and while there is some redundancy, this film surprised me. A lot better than the trailer. You may want to check it out. Do you both ever watch the films and then add a “follow up” section to your trailer trashing?? That’d be interesting to see your thoughts AFTER seeing the film as well.

Thanks for the suggestion. I’ve been tempted to add some follow-ups. Maybe I will. Michael posts his full reviews over on his blog which is linked up at the top of the page. – Terry.

PS: I forgot to mention in my review of this trailer that I did like the way T-Pain delivered his lines (“I know your mama would beat the black out of both of us.”) A lot of the reviews I read singled him out as the funniest part of the movie.
