Ramona And Beezus

Terrance the Trailer Trasher – @

What a mess. Apparently, the movie is only about Ramona, a third-grader who reminds me of “Matilda,” which I hated, but the trailer also wants to sell itself as a star vehicle for Selena Gomez, without ever even telling us who she is. We can assume she’s the “Beezus” of the title, but what is her relationship to Ramona? Sisters? Some new intrusion in her life? There’s a shot thrown in at 1:32 of Selena with a love interest that doesn’t seem to have any connection with the rest of the movie, indicative of a sloppy, slapped together product meant to babysit less discerning audiences. At least the song doesn’t sound half bad.

Yeah, we might get a hit single out of this movie, but I can so easily visualize the DVD in the $4.75 bin at Ralphs grocery stores probably before the end of the year. What an enormous waste of talent. At least you seem to have been more attentive to the trailer than I was. You really did give it a thorough analysis. I just zoned out. Couldn’t even bring myself to replay the trailer. I’d rather stick ice picks in my eyes.

Opens July 23, 2010.
