Terrance the Trailer Trasher – @@

Rob Schneider’s bit was about the only funny part of this trailer. That could be a problem, considering the rest of the ensemble cast are three of his normally much funnier SNL co-stars from the early 1990s — and Kevin James filling in for the late Chris Farley, I guess. Mostly they all seem content to give us slapstick, pee jokes, and deadpan reactions to each other’s shenanigans. I’m sure there will be a few more laughs in there somewhere, along with some phony heartwarming lesson about parenting shoehorned into the final reel. I’m also sure it will all turn out to be uneven and pointless.

Michael the Moviegoer – @@

I’m with you on this one. The pee jokes have got to go. I did get a laugh out of Salma Hayak mistaking Rob Schneider’s wife for his mother, but felt sorry for the actress playing her when she has to kiss Schneider. I like the concept of a group of parents trying to teach their kids how to have fun without cell phones or video games. There could be a real thoughtful comedy made from that idea. I don’t think this is it. I think you’re probably being too kind when you suggest that there might be a few more laughs in the film. If there were anything really funny in the movie, it would be in the trailer. Because this trailer really needs something more than Kevin James crashing into a tree and peeing in a swimming pool.
